5 Random Skills to Learn to Increase Your Productivity
Alas, things are finally slowing down. While we'd like to use most of our summer vacation to do nothing, it can get old, particularly when you're used to constantly moving.
Don't get us wrong. You should use most of your break to relax and rejuvenate your mind before yet another year of school, work and everything that comes between. But if you just can't shake the desire to start moving again, here are five productive skills you can hone to occupy your brain.
Acting
If you've got extra cash, we cannot recommend anything more than taking an acting class. Instructors will often push you to do things that may feel awkward and uncomfortable—but not in a bad way. Think of pushing yourself to not only speak but perform in front of many people or having to do a silly dance to loosen up in front of an audience. It's the perfect crash course for building confidence.

Auto Repair
Auto repair is probably a skill we should all learn. Imagine it—wouldn't it be much better to change your tire on the side of the road instead of waiting hours for AAA? Or, if you recognize an issue that is beyond your skill set, you can eliminate the time your mechanic spends troubleshooting (or potentially scamming you).

Sewing
Similar to baking, sewing offers your mind something to focus on, allowing your brain to enter a meditative state. It's also one of the most underrated hobbies because we underestimate how often our clothes need repairs. Do you have a rip in your jeans? No worries. You can sew it up in a few seconds. Did you lose weight? Simply tighten the waist and sleeves with some crafty threading.

Learn a Language
Is there anything more productive than learning a language? No matter who you ask, they'll agree nothing is more valuable than opening a new vessel of communication to another group of people. It will also increase your working memory, which can prevent dementia onset.
