The Greatest Movies That Celebrate Strong Sisterhood

Today, April 10, is National Siblings Day.

If you are lucky enough to have a sister, you will know there any relationship that isn't quite like this one. You always have someone you can depend on and talk about anything with.

Because it's such a lovable dynamic, there are plenty of movies that highlight sisterhood. Below, discover a few of our faves.

Frozen

Most of Disney's fairytales see a charming prince sweep a damsel in distress off her feet. Arguably their most popular film, Frozen, puts the romance aside in celebration of sisterhood. Despite Anna's daydreams of love and cute boys, it is her and Elsa's bond that saves the day.

10 Things I Hate About You

Sure, the focus of 10 Things I Hate About You is Kat Stratford and Patrick Verona's love story, but there is something even more beautiful and underrated: Kat's growing relationship with her younger sister, Bianca.

The two are complete opposites who often misunderstand each other's quips and quirks. When a pesky womanizer, Joey Donner, tries to woo Bianca, they finally humble him once and for all.

The Parent Trap

In The Parent Trap, two identical twins (both played by Lindsay Lohan) had no idea the other existed until a fortuitous moment at summer cap. One was raised American, one was raised English—each by a different parent. Obviously, the only thing they could do is plot to get their divorced parents back together by switching places. Maybe, just maybe, they'll finally get to make up for lost time.

Hocus Pocus

No trio of siblings could touch the Sanderson sisters. These women literally do everything, and if you watch the sequel, they will sacrifice themselves, going to the ends of the earth to stay as a unit. It's a relationship we dream of having—they are the definition of ride or die, even when society is trying to burn you at a stake.

Barbie

Are the women of Barbie technically sisters? We aren't sure, but the film certainly is all about girlhood. When the Kens decide to take over Barbie Land, the woman join forces to restore the balance of the town, notably with the help of a few humans. Women can truly do anything when they work together!
