6 Reasons Why You May Prefer Disneyland to Disney World
Florida's Walt Disney World is often thought of as the pinnacle of magic. With four theme parks, two water parks, a designated shopping center, residential neighborhood and over 20 hotels, it's impossible to imagine it wouldn't be immersive. In fact, it's almost like traveling to a Disney city.
Unsurprisingly, most people often select Disney World as their favorite location, rather than any Disneyland. That said, there are still reasons why someone may prefer the smaller park in Anaheim. Discover them below.
It's the Original, Meaning It Has the Richest History
Each park has its strengths. And by far, Disneyland receives the trophy for nostalgia. The Anaheim location was the first Disney park to open in 1955. Since Walt Disney passed in 1966 (the second location, Disney World, didn't open until 1971), it was the only park he was able to visit.
If you're a history nerd, there's an unmatched magic in knowing you are walking the same steps at Walt. Without it, we doubt we would have the same Disney we know in Florida.
The Location Is More Convenient to You
As much as we would love to have any park in arm's length, they are scattered across the globe. Maybe, you are lucky enough to live near Disneyland California. In result, you likely have memories from childhood (and adulthood) in the parks, making it even more sentimental to you. Plus, it's pretty nice to know you don't have to pay for flights and lodging to visit the Happiest Place on Earth.

No Other Park Compares to the Anaheim Version of the Rides
Although the core of each Disney park is the same, there are small differences between them. For example, Space Mountain in California is far superior to the one in Florida. The ride cart is more comfortable and faster. Same goes, you will also find unique traits for Pirates of the Caribbean and It's a Small World. And there a few beloved attractions that are exclusive to Anaheim, like the IncrediCoaster.
California Always Has Beautiful Weather and Views
Florida has mostly warm temperatures, but there is a period of the year when it is extremely wet and gloomy. Plus, you also have to worry about hurricane season in late summer and early fall! California, however, is always nice—even during the hottest months since there isn't much humidity. In other words, you can plan your trip during any point of the year without any weather stress.
You Like to Have a Quick, Compact Visit
Sure, Disney World has everything you could imagine. But sometimes, you don't have enough time to devote a week to riding rides. Disneyland, on the other hand, can be completed within two to three days. As long as you spend one day per park, you can get the majority done, especially if it's an empty day (or you have Lightning Lane).
It's Cheaper on Average
Because Disneyland trips tend to be shorter, you can expect to spend less money overall. When booking your trip, you will also notice that admission tickets are also cheaper (likely because it is a smaller park). And because Disney World is so expansive, you almost need to stay on property. But there are plenty of cheaper lodging options near Disneyland. Some cheaper, non-Disney hotels only require you to walk across the street.
