Mason stars as Finney, a 13-year-old boy who's abducted by a terrifying killer known as the Grabber, and is aided by the voices of the Grabber's former victims through a disconnected phone. The 2025 sequel continues the tale. Spoiler alert: Finney survived the first round, and now, he's receiving calls from the dead Grabber, who plots revenge, targeting Finney's little sister, Gwen.

Mason Thames excels when he's thrust into the middle of a haunting mystery story, and that's precisely what we get with his 2024 film Monster Summer. Mason plays Noah, a teenager in the '90s who heads to Martha's Vineyard to help his mom with her B&B and enjoy a relaxing summer with his friends. When kids start disappearing at the same time a mysterious and somewhat creepy woman arrives in town, Noah tries to piece together the truth, and discovers an even bigger conspiracy in the process.

How to Train Your Dragon (2025)
It was a tall order casting the right actor to play Hiccup in this year's live-action version of How to Train Your Dragon, but Mason was exactly the right choice, nailing the character with a sense of wonder, humor and depth. By now, this is a tale we all know and love about overcoming fear, defying expectations and forging your own path with the friends you make along the way. In a world full of unnecessary live-action remakes, this one stands out and feels fully earned.
