K-pop Girl Group Baby DONT Cry Talk ‘I Don’t Care,’ the Baby Rock Genre and KCON LA 2025

by Tayah Fox

They may be soft on the outside, but they're strong on the inside. Baby DONT Cry, P NATION's first girl group, embodies a bold attitude wrapped in a sweet package. Debuting on June 23, 2025, Yihyun, Kumi, Mia and Beni launched into the K-pop world as they challenged societal norms in the daring anthem "F Girl." Less than two months after their debut, they took the stage at KCON LA, grabbing the attention of new fans thanks to the contrast between their fierce concept and beautiful visuals, quickly reaching a significant milestone.

Now, the quartet has returned with "I Don't Care," a strong reflection of what makes Baby DONT Cry unique. In this baby rock song, showcasing the essence of Baby DONT Cry's signature genre, the band expresses their desire to remain loyal to themselves and not let rumors affect them. With this release, they continue to use their platform to promote self-confidence and authenticity. Sweety High spoke with the group about the new era of Baby DONT Cry, their thoughts on KCON, and their group concept. Read what the girls had to say below.

Sweety High: Could you introduce yourselves and tell us a bit about each of your roles in the group?

Yihyun: Hi, I'm Yihyun from Baby DONT Cry. I'm the lovable leader!

Kumi: Hi, I'm Kumi, the rapper of Baby DONT Cry!

Mia: I'm Mia, the group's little kitten!

Beni: Hi, I'm Beni! I'm the beloved, youngest member and the baby tiger of the group!

SH: Your group name represents being "soft on the outside, strong on the inside." What factors influenced your group's concept choice?

Mia: We may look cute and a bit delicate on the outside, but each and all of the four of us have our own charm and a strong determination towards our dreams. So that's why the group name fits us so well.

Kumi: It sounds like a cute and soft name on the outside, but it actually carries the meaning of strength to get back up no matter what happens.

SH: Baby DONT Cry is the first girl group to debut under P NATION. What drew you girls to audition for this company?

Yihyun: I actually appeared on a program with our CEO, PSY, and thankfully he saw potential in me and suggested we work together, and that's why I joined the company.

Beni: I always thought P NATION felt like a playground of music. I felt that if I joined this company, I would be able to explore the world of music in a fun and more exciting way.

SH: You dominated the KCON LA stage this year. What was it like to go straight from your debut to a big global stage?

Mia: It was such an honor to stand on such a big stage. Since it was our first time, we were really nervous. We did watch our seniors enjoy the stage and make the audience enjoy it with them. So that made us realize how amazing they truly are. There were things I wish we could have done better, obviously, but if we ever get another chance to stand on such a big stage like that, we want to be able to perform without regrets.

Beni: Ever since I was a trainee, I watched our seniors perform at KCON and always thought, "Oh, one day I want to stand on that stage, like them." So getting to be on such a huge stage right after debut was so overwhelming, but our KCON LA stage became another big motivation for us to work even harder moving forward.

SH: Can you describe your new single, "I Don't Care," and the message behind the song?

Kumi: "I Don't Care" is a song that is filled with Baby DONT Cry's signature strengths, confidence and honesty. It expresses the mindset of not being swayed by people's opinions or rumors and accepting yourself by saying, "I'm just fine just as I am."

Beni: Our new single, "I Don't Care," carries Baby DONT Cry's bold and confident energy. It delivers a powerful, almost declarative message. No matter what anyone says, I'm not going to waver, and I'm going to keep moving forward.

SH: How would you define this new era of Baby DONT Cry? How is it different from your debut?

Yihyun: For this comeback, it really feels like a new leap for us, unlike "F Girl," where we showed a strong and confident side. This time, we get to enjoy the stage with a freer, more exciting energy as we declare that we are going to follow our own path.

SH: You've coined the term "baby rock" to describe your musical sound. Can you tell us a bit about the genre and what elements make it stand out from other genres?

Kumi: I think the emotional range is much wider. You might be smiling but feeling like crying, or you seem sweet but have a fire burning inside. We try to express those complex feelings throughout our music.

Beni: Our baby rock genre is Baby DONT Cry's signature genre. Behind that were cute and innocent visuals. We try to express strong self-confidence and authenticity.

Yihyun: But that doesn't mean that we'll only limit ourselves to baby rock. We'll continue to experiment with different genres, so please look forward to the kind of music we'll explore and the songs that we'll sing in the future.

SH: Is there anything else you'd like to share with fans?

Yihyun:  Cherries, I'm so happy to meet you all again, and I'm really looking forward to this comeback. Please keep supporting us for a long time. I love you all so much.

Kumi: Thank you so much for always finding your way to Baby DONT Cry. Cherries' smiles give us strength, so we'll keep singing so that nights where you want to cry can turn into mornings where you can smile. Let's make even more memories together. We love you all so much!

Mia: I always love you guys, and I'm so excited to meet you for this comeback. We'll show you many sides, so please support us a lot. I hope you listen to "I Don't Care" every day!

Beni: Cherries, you must have waited for so long for our comeback, and since we've returned with such an amazing song, I hope you guys are very excited for it like we are. Thank you so, so much for always loving us, and we'll become artists you can always be proud of. We love you all!
