At just 17 years old, Star Bandz has proven herself as one of the most promising rising voices on the rap scene, and she's only just begun.
Over the last three years, the Chicago artist has worked hard to hone her unique drill rap sound, stunning listeners not just with her youth, but also with her talent and style. She's had various viral moments with songs including "Bigger Better Badder" and "Yea Yea," packed with Star's bold attitude and authenticity, and earlier this month, she released her latest single, "Die." Star Bandz: The hook on it is really catchy, and it comes on when nobody's expecting it. I'm being melodic on the hook but then I'm rapping all in on the verse. The beat's hard. The lyrics are hard. The hook's hard. Everything on it is hard.
2. Her biggest musical influence right now, with no competition, is NBA YoungBoy.
Star: That's my favorite rapper.
3. When we chatted with her, the last song Star had stuck in her head was also NBA YoungBoy's "Slimretta."

Star: I've been watching The Chi since I was in like the fourth grade. What really caught my attention was it's just kids from Chicago run up in the crazy city that it is. Having emotional connections when people pass away. I'm just like, dang. It makes you interested in what happens next, and it's relatable—like real-life stuff going on. I like TV shows like that. I also like Raising Kanan, too. It's got real-life stuff going on in it.
