These 3 Tate McRae Songs Need Choreography ASAP (Plus 2 Routines We’re Already Obsessed With)

by Rachel Finucane

Get in line—we're about to high-kick into the splits down the ballroom to the salsa señora emoji herself, Tate McRae.

Our dancing titan just dropped her third album, So Close To What, and now we're one "five, six, seven, eight" away from crafting our own routines to these bangers. Of course, we're not trusting ourselves to execute them—otherwise, we'd end up face-planting. So, while we dish out three hypothetical routines we'd love to see Tate groove to, we're also diving into two music videos from this era—because who better to learn from than someone who makes it look like a fashionable breeze?

'Miss possessive'

If we ever needed someone to count us into a routine dripping with drama, it'd be Sydney Sweeney, and for "Miss possessive," we'd love to see her ditch her Euphoria character Cassie Howard's cheerleading pom-poms for some high-octane choreography. Per The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, it was Tate perfecting the ultimate Pilates pose with Sydney's Anyone but You costar Glen Powell that sparked the chemistry between Sydney and Tate.  On the track, Sydney purrs, "No, seriously, get your hands off my man" before Tate launches into this raunchy, street-pop jam that layers spoken word, auto-tune and, of course, her flawless vocals. It's our go-to track for breakng out a hip-hop routine when you need to stake your claim.

'I know love'

Who says every routine has to be a firestarter with your squad? Sometimes, it's all about slowing it down for the one who's got you seeing heart eyes. Case in point: "I know love." And Tate definitely does—she co-wrote it with her duet partner-slash-real-life boyfriend, The Kid LAROI. Their other track? So unreleased, we're treating it like classified intel ("Me," if you must know). Now, cue the disco ball—we'll be slow jamming under it if and when this song gets some sultry and deliberate choreo.

'Means I care'

While "Miss possessive" had us building a routine around Sydney's iconic intro, this time, it's all about the production. From the perfect blend of pavement slaps and record scratches to Tate jumping in with a schoolyard-style "Na, na-na-na, na-na-na, na-na, na-hey," these moves will have you dragging your friends straight to the dance floor. Fitting, since this track is all about flashing a peace sign before your avoidant self dips from the dating pool—so where better to escape to than the club?

'Sports car'

The Porsche of music videos—and not just because it's called "Sports car"—this dirty pop anthem is a showstopping excuse for a dance break with your crew. Choreography mastermind Sean Bankhead, the force behind Normani's "Motivation" and Lil Nas X's "Industry Baby," delivers another knockout routine. Tate switches outfits faster than a runway model, sliding under chairs, high-kicking in heels, and serving pure magnetism—even underwater. Glam, grit, and killer moves—what more could you want?

'Revolving door'

We kick off "Revolving door" with Tate in full superstar mode—her Neutrogena collab posters plastered everywhere—but soon, she's glitching like a pop star doll on low battery, spasm-ing through contemporary moves before snapping back to full glittering stardom. Choreographed by Robbie Blue—who's grooved with Taylor Swift and just stepped up for Lady Gaga's "Abracadabra"—the video even throws in a pop squad moment, as a crew of white-clad dancers strut through swinging doors, playfully toying with dress shirts.
