Everything You Wanted to Know About Taylor Swift’s The Life of a Showgirl: A Spotify Experience

Is there anything more exciting than the lead up to a Taylor Swift album release? We think not, and before Taylor's hotly anticipated new album, The Life of a Showgirl, debuts on Friday, Oct. 3, she's giving fans a very special sneak peek with The Life of a Showgirl: A Spotify Experience in New York City.

We had the pleasure of being among the first to check out the once-in-a-lifetime immersive pop-up today, Sep. 30, which is running for three days through Oct. 2. It's open from noon to High Line Nine, but it's first come, first served, so be sure to get there early to guarantee your place in line—we promise it's worth it. Still, if you can't be there in person, we hope to get you caught up!

Even as you queue up to be let in, you'll feel The Life of a Showgirl energy buzzing through the place, greeted by bold walls of shimmery Showgirl orange and an eye-catching color scheme of turquoise and orange to match the album cover. Rest assured that you'll be seeing plenty of these colors throughout the experience—and with Friday's album release.

Inside, you'll spy photo ops galore, including this gorgeous orange hexagon-shaped installation of lights that makes for flatteringly lit selfies, backed by Taylor's iconic album cover for good measure.

Next, you'll go through a hall with massive portraits of Taylor on the walls before stepping into a spectacular dressing room set pulling you directly into Taylor's life as a showgirl. Taylor Swift: The Life of a Showgirl: A Spotify event cover costume

First off, the costumes are absolutely stunning, combining extravagant feather details with strings of pearls and beads, fanciful dresses of sequins and frills, beautiful wigs and so much more. The flapper elements are exactly what we've imagined for The Life of a Showgirl, and we can't wait to see where they factor into the narrative.

Further, the dressing room counters are positively packed with items, including jewelry, mirrors, perfume bottles, floral arrangements, gloves and notes. There are also easter eggs tucked into the scene, such as the words "Oftentimes it doesn't feel so glamorous to be me" written in lipstick on a big mirror. We're convinced these are lyrics, but for which track?

Visitors can often spy the phrase "Keep it 100" written not just on a hand mirror, but also projected in lights onto the ceiling. There's also what looks to be a handwritten note from TS herself on special stationery featuring the name of the album, with the word "Life" in a heart.

The room is packed with tiny details, and we've been told that each and every one is significant to the album, encouraging visitors to speculate away. We're already anticipating seeing even more clues fall in place once we get to hear the album on Friday.

And if that wasn't exciting enough, it's only part one of the tour. Next, you'll head to a "backstage" area that looks just like you're with Taylor on tour, compete with stacks of sound equipment and instruments. Here, you'll encounter even more magic with feathered masks and jewelry strewn about and everything dusted in a layer of turquoise and orange confetti. Fans will also be able to catch an exclusive video of Taylor discussing her collaboration with Swedish producer and co-writer Max Martin on the album.

Among these backstage items is a very special road case labeled in tape with "CASE 13," of course referencing Taylor's favorite lucky number.

The backstage area also features a framed photo of Sabrina Carpenter joining Taylor on The Eras Tour in New Orleans last year. It's especially appropriate given that Sabrina is featured on the album's title track, "The Life of a Showgirl," which closes out the album.

And perhaps our favorite detail is the album's track list, printed out like a concert set list on a clipboard for that touch of realism.

But wait—there's even more. Stick around to take photos seated against an orange and turquoise The Life of a Showgirl stage backdrop, complete with a that fateful line, "Oftentimes it doesn't feel so glamorous to be me."

There's also a "Fate of Ophelia" photo room, referring to the album's opening track, bathed completely in blue light and featuring a bath tub filled with beautiful plants and dripping with pearls in a bed of moss.
