Looking back on 2023, it's clear that the year was jam-packed with hits from swooning ballads to electric dance anthems. But with so many excellent releases from earlier in the year, it seemed like a nearly impossible task to keep the momentum going and end the year off with a bang. However, December's K-pop releases did not disappoint.

With a contrast of sweet holiday melodies and hard-hitting electronic tracks, December was a month to remember. Here are some of our favorite K-pop songs from December 2023.

'Crazy Form' by Ateez

Just like with every Ateez title track, you don't know what to expect before listening to "Crazy Form." After all, unpredictability is the group's strong suit. From the moment you hear Hongjoong open the song with a rousing chant of "get up," you know it's going to be a wild ride. Powered by thumping percussion and an addictive hook, the aptly titled "Crazy Form" is a celebration of the group's electrifying energy that is sure to thrill listeners.

 

'Soñar (Breaker)' by NMIXX

Everything about the powerhouse girl group NMIXX seems larger than life. From the over-the-top production style that defines their self-titled genre Mixx Pop to the unbelievably powerful vocals of the group, each song they release seems to pull you in with its effervescence. "Soñar (Breaker)" is no exception. With the Latin-inspired percussion and a chanty chorus inviting the listener into their dream world, the song exudes personality and a life of its own that comes with being sung by one of the most charismatic girl groups out now.

 

'Be There For Me' by NCT 127

Although NCT 127 had an eventful 2023 with several promotion cycles, they still found time to gift their fans with a special present: the winter special single "Be There For Me." Even though it's different from their trademark loud and brassy sound, the single still has all the making of an NCT hit with the smooth harmonies they're known for and catchy raps to paint the picture of a perfect winter love story.

'The Carol 3.0' by ARTMS

For their first official release as ARTMS, the girls teamed up to release "The Carol 3.0." The beautiful voices of the group almost feel like magic as the group immerses you in a Christmas wonderland soundscape. It's a beautiful and lighthearted song, complete with a festive band instrumental.
