Mountain Pose
Did you know simply standing upright is considered yoga? Well, kind of. The mountain pose, also called tadasana, encourages you to engage your core for upright posture. Then, you open your chest and relax your shoulders. Finally, face your palms forward to receive positive energy.
Child's Pose
During a yoga class, our favorite position is the child's pose. As the name suggests, you'll sit on your knees like kids would. Then, you'll learn forward, touching your head to the mat, to stretch your back. There are many variations to this pose, including stretched arms, leaning to the side or twisting your body by 90 degrees.

Bridge Pose
If you've ever done hip raises, you have already done the yoga version: the bridge pose. Rather than pumping yourself up and down, you will remain in the lifted position. Never seen it? Simply lay on your back, keeping your shoulders to the floor, and lift your hips to a comfortable height. This is another great stretch, engaging your glutes, thighs, abdomen and chest.
Downward Dog
Anyone who has been feeling tension in their back and legs needs to do the downward dog pose. For this position, you will be on all fours (like, well, a dog),pointing your glutes into the air. You'll know you're doing it correctly when you can feel it in your hamstrings.
Tree Pose
We'll be honest—balance has never been our strong suit—but the tree pose helped us improve it. It's similar to the mountain, but instead, you will press your hands together, pointing upward. Then, you'll lift one leg and touch your free foot to the opposite leg.
