These 5 Signs Are the Shyest in the Zodiac

Some people seem to naturally by shyer than others. They struggle with being the center of attention, and when it comes time to speak, they can appear timid and quiet.

While some may view this as a weakness, we just think of it as a different way of being. Shy people are often thoughtful, sensitive and creative, preferring to do their thing behind the scenes, without needing to be in the spotlight. Cancer (June 21 – July 22)

There's a good reason the zodiac sign of Cancer is represented by a crab. Like a crustacean, they have a hard outer shell to protect the big softies they are on the inside. They may act tough, but it's a guard they keep up to hide insecurity.  They're often highly sensitive, which has led them to being hurt deeply in the past, especially when meeting new people, and they certainly don't open up to just anyone. Their trust has to be earned, and it mostly belongs to more outgoing folks who persisted in getting close to them. Cancers can also be homebodies, preferring the comfortable and familiar over new situations.

Virgo (Aug. 23 – Sep. 22)

Virgo's shyness begins with their perfectionism. They prefer to have everything just right at all times, and they'd prefer not to be noticed until the time of their choosing, when everything is perfectly in place. They're hard workers who are willing to put in the effort to keep everything in place, but they'd rather not be in the public eye because that's simply too much added pressure—and they're critical enough about themselves already. Unfamiliar situations tend to stress them out, because they can't stand being out of their element or being a beginner at new things. Most Virgos would much rather hide in the corner and assess the situation before speaking to anyone.

 

Scorpio (Oct. 23 – Nov. 21)

One of the most misunderstood signs of the zodiac, Scorpio, also happens to be one of the shyest. Scorpio's symbol, the scorpion (like Cancer's crab) has a hardy exoskeleton protecting squishy innards, but they have the added sting of poison. They tend to keep to themselves because they're distrustful of others, especially new people, and they know just how vicious they can be when their trust is broken and people let them down. However, instead of appearing shy, Scorpios have a magnetism about them that makes them seem coy and mysterious, instead.

Capricorn (Dec. 22 – Jan. 19)

For Capricorns, shyness tends to be a practical matter. They're usually much more concerned with their academic or career ambitions than socializing, and so those skills are often less developed unless being a people-person is part of the job. Capricorns tend to keep a few close and trusted friends, but beyond that, they see additional attachments as a distraction. At gatherings, they're usually pretty reserved and introverted, preferring not to speak unless it's necessary.

 

Pisces (Feb. 19 – March 20)

Pisces tend to spend more time in their heads in daydreams than in the real world, which can leave them sometimes feeling unprepared for social situations and relationship scenarios. They're worriers who can get themselves worked up over what might happen, instead of focusing on the here and now. Pisces can also be prone to distraction during conversations, especially stressful ones, which can result in awkwardness and forgetfulness. They often feel like they're going to mess things up, and that can stop them from trying things, talking to people and going after new opportunities.
