6 Tips for Entering Your ‘Revenge Era’
2023 is officially the era of eras (and no, we aren't just talking about Taylor Swift's sold-out tour).
From the "villain era" to the "soft girl era" and everything in between, something about "entering an era" when you go through a certain kind of internal or external shift just makes you feel more like the main character you know you are.
With that said, we're entering an era of a new kind of era—that of revenge. From Princess Diana back in the '90s (they didn't call it a revenge dress for nothing) to just about any post-breakup celebrity today, the revenge era is all about looking and feeling your hottest to spite whoever may have tried to bring you down or shake you up in the past. If you're ready to enter a revenge era of your own, take the following tips into account as you step into your newest form:
1. Use Your Anger as Fuel
When someone wrongs you—whether it be by breaking up with you, spreading a rumor about you or anything else—it's natural to get mad. An unhealthy way to deal with that anger would be to bottle it up or try to ignore your feelings, so instead, why not use it as fuel to make some positive changes? Whether you use it as fuel to try harder in school or to start pushing yourself more during your workouts, not all anger is a bad thing when you work through it properly.

2. Focus on You, Not Them
Now that we're discussing what you're using that anger to fuel, remember to do something because it makes you happy—not because it's what would make the person who did you wrong feel worse. So if you've always wanted to cut your hair in a certain way or get into a new hobby, why not embrace it now? Your revenge era is all about letting yourself be the best version of yourself without feeling a drop of guilt towards anything else, and that starts when you begin doing more of what fulfills you.

3. Focus on the Greater Glow Up Rather Than Hyper-Fixating
It's good to have goals, revenge era or not, and while being specific about those goals can sometimes help you stick to them and actually achieve them, it can occasionally also make you fixate on small details rather than bettering yourself as a person in general. This is especially true for goals related to weight (we'd recommend focusing on your overall health instead) or even grades, as numbers becoming involved can lead to an unhealthy obsession with achieving that doesn't allow you to relax and enjoy the process. Instead, take note of how far you've come on your journey instead, whatever that journey may look like for you.
4. Take Some Revenge-Spiration
"Revenge era" is a common term now for a reason, so take a look at previous people (famous or not) who have gone through one of their own and see how you can channel that energy into your own. Whether it's a certain sense of style or a routine or anything else, this might help you hone in on what you actually want to gain from your revenge era if you look at how other people handled theirs.
5. Be Patient With Yourself
A glow up—mental or physical—doesn't happen in a heartbeat, so don't think that you're failing if you aren't feeling like your "baddest" self right off the bat. It's also okay to miss the person who made you seek revenge in the first place, just don't wallow in those feelings and remind yourself how incredible you are, instead.

6. Don't Be Afraid to Show Off
And finally, the key to mastering the revenge era: Actually showing off the results. While the internal work is often best done quietly (think becoming more confident, focusing on your goals, etc.), the end result is best displayed publicly. So go ahead, take photos at every opportunity. Wear your favorite outfits as often as you like just because you know you look and feel great in them. Do what you need to to feel amazing, and others will take notice—and isn't that the point of revenge after all?
