P1Harmony and New Hope Club Share the Story Behind New Collab, ‘Super Chic’

"Super Chic" is the brand new collab between British pop trio New Hope Club and K-pop sensations P1Harmony, and we honestly couldn't have asked for a smoother, more unforgettable track.

It's truly the collab we never knew we needed, with all nine artists joining together in perfect harmony for something sleek, flirtatious and irresistibly fun. Both groups actually met during a festival in South Korea last summer, and the chemistry between them was instant. It wasn't long at all before both teamed up to bring "Super Chic" to life as both friends and musical collaborators. From the instant we heard it, we knew he had to know more, and both groups were kind enough to chat with us to give us the inside scoop behind all things "Super Chic."

The Story Behind 'Super Chic'

New Hope Club: We wrote "Super Chic" with P1H after we both played the same festival in Seoul. It's an upbeat funky song to dance to, which is why we thought it would be perfect to collaborate with P1H since they bring such an upbeat energy to their live performances and tracks.

JONGSEOB: "Super Chic" was an opportunity for P1Harmony to experience new things and allow us to show a new side of ourselves that we hadn't shown in the previous albums. It is made from New Hope Club and P1Harmony's unique colors, thoughts, and harmonies. So, "Super Chic" was a fun new challenge for us!

What 'Super Chic' Means

New Hope Club: "Super Chic" is about a kicka** girl who rules any room she walks into. She's super chic! The song is a confidence booster. We hope it lifts spirits and gives people the confidence to dance like nobody is watching.

On The Collab

New Hope Club: We headlined our first-ever festival in Korea last summer, which was one of the best shows we've ever played. When we arrived, the P1H guys were playing onstage, and we absolutely loved their performance. We met them afterward and we just clicked straight away. We had a song that we'd been working on a few weeks before whilst touring the U.S., which we thought would be just perfect. We got straight into the studio a couple of days later and finished off the song together.

It's our first time collaborating with a K-pop band, and it was a really new experience for us to work across different languages in the song. It made it feel really special. We've been able to build new friendships with the guys through working together, which has been amazing.

KEEHO: It was actually very funny because we met at a festival in Korea last year, and after that encounter, we kept in touch. We had obviously known of New Hope Club beforehand, so we were so excited to become friends with them and then go on to collaborate with them!

THEO: When we were working on the melody line, we sang it on the spot, and I was amazed by New Hope Club's great voices. I think they have the perfect voices for a band, so I was really looking forward to the quality of this song.

Favorite Lyrics

George Smith: "She's a lemon sweetener." Feels fun and cool.

Blake Richardson: I like, "Long hair, feet below her knees."

Reece Bibby: "Can't get you off my brain freeze, ice cream."

SOUL: I like "She buys all of your dreams and throws away the receipts." It was hard to understand the meaning at first, but once I did I was quite surprised.

INTAK: I got this great opportunity to write the lyrics of "Super Chic," and personally, I like "I'll make all mine if I want. Do you like me or not?" It's interesting to hold one's head up against a chic girl, so it's my favorite line!

Final Thoughts

New Hope Club: We'd just like to say how much we enjoyed the process and getting to know these boys. It's been a real pleasure, and we can't wait for what's to come. We hope you love the song!

JIUNG: We were able to show a new harmony with new artists once again. There are endless harmonies to come, so we hope you're excited! And please give New Hope Club lots of love and support, too!
