This Assessment of Katy Perry's Jokes
Katy started off strong with a fun space-themed entry preceded by a video about her recent fictional journey into the great beyond. Sadly, she was faced with a tough audience and many of her attempts at humor for the rest of the evening fell flat.

This Comparison of Lorde's Performance
Apparently Lorde was dealing with a case of the flu last night that prevented her from actually singing her song "Homemade Dynamite." Instead, she performed an unconventional dance for the duration of the track. While the performance was perfect for her eccentric style, her lack of singing was confusing to say the least.

This Star-to-Star Support for Pink
Pink was an overall stunning recipient of this year's Michael Jackson Vanguard Award. She not only rode around on a tractor during her performance, but she also gave an absolutely inspiring acceptance speech about the importance of a positive body image. Ellen DeGeneres' supportive Tweet was just the icing on the cake for this star's amazing night.

This Response to Fifth Harmony's Shade
The girl group delivered a wonderful dance-worthy performance, but the most jaw-dropping part was the undeniable shade the girl group threw at former member Camila Cabello, who left the group in Dec. 2016. The performance started with five people on stage, but one was immediately thrown backwards in a stunt with a clear message to Fifth Harmony's former bandmate.

This Reaction to the "LWYMMD" Video
Although Taylor Swift did not attend the VMA, she did release the music video for her new single, "Look What You Made Me Do." The video is filled with messages about her recent drama, and she even explicitly addresses all the instances in which she's been criticized. Needless to say, Swifties everywhere are fully supportive of her brutally honest response to her year of crisis.

This Support for Jared Leto's Outfit
Jared Leto was another shining star for the 2017 VMA. Not only was his outfit completely on point, but he also delivered a wonderful remembrance speech for Chester Bennington and Chris Cornell, who both passed away earlier this year. He also pointed out the importance of reaching out to potential resources if you are experience harmful thoughts. We're totally loving everything about Jared from last night, and not just because of his sparkly cape.
