50 Hilarious Airport Photos for When You Need a Good Laugh
We think everyone can agree that the airport is a great place for people-watching.
When you're at these flying destinations, the rules are way different. You can eat dinner for breakfast, read way too many magazines and lay sprawled out over the floor with almost next to no judgment. It's honestly like another universe!

1. Crocs on the Escalator
We're not exactly sure what's going on here. First of all, who gave this person approval to even buy a pair of crocs? Did someone accidentally slip out of these super fashionable shoes? Was there a ghost on the escalator? We're thinking someone's walking around without shoes on.
2. Luggage on the Tarmac
The absolute worst thing that can happen to a person at the airport besides missing their flight is not getting their luggage. It looks like whoever this piece of luggage belonged to probably had one horrible day ahead of them. We can't believe it was left on the tarmac! Total fail.
3. Pork Rinds in the Vegan Section
One thing seemingly everyone does at the airport is pay way too much on mediocre food and snacks. In this case, the workers might not have noticed they accidentally placed pork rinds in the vegan section! We're hoping a vegan didn't actually purchase this and think it was okay to consume.
4. Baby as a Carry-On
When we go through airport security and take off our shoes and electronics, it's such a hassle. Sometimes, in the midst of things, we get a bit confused. It looks like the parent of this baby wasn't paying attention when they thought she needed to go through the x-ray scanner!
5. Neck-Pillow Cleanliness
In the day and age of maintaining social distance and wearing face masks, being clean is absolutely essential. We're willing to bet most people carry hand sanitizer on them these days! This guy is doing the complete opposite by letting his neck pillow drag all the way across the airport floor… yuck.
6. Too Many Flights Landing at the Same Time
Scheduling flights and airport traffic is no easy task, which can clearly be seen in this picture. It looks to us like a bunch of flights landed at the same time, leaving hundreds of people heading for the luggage area! This type of congestion is exactly what gives us major anxiety.
7. Odd Place to Sleep
When you've been traveling for hours on end and are dealing with time changes, you're left feeling tired. We understand that jet-lag can be overwhelming, so we'll give this guy a pass for sleeping on the ground. We only wish someone would give the poor man a blanket or pillow!
8. Broken X-Ray Machine
Going to the airport is already a hassle enough, but when something essential like the x-ray machine breaks down? Boy are you in for a world of fun. Going through security takes long enough, so we can't even imagine what these people had to deal with! Did they make their flights? Probably not.
9. Spilled Coffee
Since most of us are on a time crunch at the airport, those extra 10 minutes to grab a cup of coffee is absolute bliss. We feel horrible for this girl who tripped and spilled her coffee everywhere. We're willing to bet she didn't have enough time to grab another one, leaving her without caffeine.
10. Confusing Sign
Airports are seriously confusing. There are so many rules, gates, places to eat and bathrooms to choose from. So, we tend to rely on the signs around us! This airport did not do a good job when it comes to directing their patrons. This sign is all sorts of confusing and misleading.
11. More Misplaced Luggage
We cannot stress this enough—don't lose our luggage! When there's no more room in the overhead bins and the flight attendant takes your bags, this picture is probably what goes through your mind. We're hoping that whoever this belonged to got it returned safe and sound.
12. Purse as a Pillow
Once you get over how gross it is to sleep on an airport floor, this lady has the right idea. Since there are lots of sketchy people out there, protecting your luggage is vital, so you might as well make it useful! We love that she used her purse as a pillow—there's no way someone will try to steal it!
13. Broken Guitar
If you're ever worried about breaking or losing something on an airplane, we cannot stress this enough—do not bring it! Leave it at home if it means that much to you. This person learned the hard way after getting their guitar back, only to find it completely broken and ruined. That must have been a wakeup call.
14. Oddly Placed Doors
Sometimes we're left scratching our heads, wondering why people don't use the full capacity of their brains. Whoever designed this layout clearly wasn't paying attention when they placed these emergency doors! This woman caught it on film and is showing the camera that you can simply walk past the doors without even having to open them.
15. Duct-Taped Luggage
When purchasing luggage, it's important to pick out the best quality. Even if you save a few bucks when purchasing a super cheap one, it'll eventually cost you. We're betting this person went the cheap route and ended up with this crappy zipper, leaving them with an odd alternative! Bravo to whoever thought of using duct-tape to secure their clothes.
16. Airport Yoga
Heading to the airport typically means waking up at the crack of dawn in order to catch your flight. Since most people won't have time to hit the gym or a fitness studio, they look at the day as a skip day. This guy, however, was not about to miss out on a yoga session! It looks like he whipped out his moves in front of everyone at his gate.
17. Sideways Views
Airports are confusing as it is. So, when we check the board to make sure our flights are running on schedule, we aren't asking for much! Whoever was in charge of these screens apparently didn't know how to put them the right side up. We're left wondering what people did! They probably turned their heads to attempt to read the screens.
18. Escalator Fail
One of our worst nightmares is falling down an escalator. We can't even imagine what it must have been like for the people in the back to come up to this! Do they attempt to walk back down? Do they jump over them? We're thinking they probably joined the pile of people and bags. Hopefully everyone got out of there unharmed!
19. Sleeping Guy Giving the Airport a Show
If it isn't clear by now, people love sleeping in airports. We've been guilty of it, too! However, there has to be some sort of etiquette when it comes to taking a snooze in public. This guy didn't seem to care that his midrif was completely hanging out. He gave everyone a show they likely did not want to ever see.
20. Missing the Rest of the Luggage
Upon first glance, we noticed what looks like the handle to a piece of luggage. The fact that it broke off is already bad enough, but the fact that the airport tag was on it makes it a million times worse! Hopefully the rest of the suitcase wasn't far behind and the person found it safe and sound.
21. Woman Putting Lotion on Feet
There are some things one simply does not do in an airport. Putting on some hand lotion? Go for it. Want to sleep on the floor? You won't be the only one. However, if you have to take off your dirty socks and shoes to complete a task, we're here to tell you it's completely unnecessary. It looks like this lady is applying foot lotion in the middle of the airport… gross.
22. Pet Relief Area
We live in a world where people are seriously obsessed with their pets. If you have a dog, you know what we're talking about. Someone caught this little slice of paradise on camera! Apparently, this airport was sick of cleaning up after dogs and gave them their own relief area. We're cracking up at the fake grass and fire hydrant.
23. Super Lazy Kid
People think there are no rules at the airport. It looks like this kid took advantage of the situation and made his mom roll him around! We're confused by his position because we're sure there are other more comfortable ways to rest, but props to him. Hopefully his mom has some strong arms and doesn't drop him!
24. Crazy Hat Lady
If you have a collection of favorite hats, you know the struggle of traveling with them. Most hats can't be stuffed into the bottom of a bag, so when going on a plane, what's a girl to do? It looks like this woman came up with a clever method and wore all of her hats at once. It might just be us, but we think she may have overdone it with the amount she brought.
25. Unnecessary Luggage Cart
When going on lengthy trips, it's nice to have a luggage cart to place your big items. It frees up space for your hands and leaves you feeling better rested. We have no idea why this woman decided to pick one up though. The size of her bag is seriously tiny, so maybe it was just super heavy? We'll never know.
26. Weird Travel Buddy
Enter any airport and you're bound to run into a bunch of weirdos. We have nothing against people who love their stuffed animals, but having a "tea party" in the middle of a crowded airport is a sure way to get lots of looks and laughs. It appears this woman was on a date with her teddy bear! It doesn't seem like he was a good conversationalist from the bored look on her face.
27. Sleeping in Odd Places
Some people have the capacity to sleep in the strangest of circumstances. For most people, we require complete and utter silence and darkness. That is not the case with this guy! We're confused as to why he chose to lay down beneath a bunch of chairs. Hopefully the woman who's sitting above him is his wife or travel buddy.
28. Human Luggage
It looks like this guy was tasked with fixing a broken down luggage scanner. TBH, it does not look like a fun job. Whoever caught this on camera got it at the perfect time, as it looks like he's a human piece of luggage! We're hoping someone was able to help him out of that tight spot.
29. Hardcore Yogi
Sitting in a plane seat for hours on end isn't comfortable—we get it. So, when we see people stretching and doing yoga in the airport, it's honestly not even that weird anymore! Have we become so desensitized that we don't care anymore? It looks like this person is limbering up for one long flight.
30. Buggy On the Tarmac
Sure, we've seen tractors, cars and even bikes on the tarmac. But an old-school buggy? That's definitely a first. We've honestly never been so confused. It looks like it's burning rubber from the smoke, and there's just no way it can go that fast! We wonder where these people were planning on going, and to which decade!
31. Weird Airport Finds
We're not sure if it's just us, but when we clean off our glasses, we usually just use the fabric that comes in the case or our shirts. Apparently, though, for just $3, a machine can do that for you! This is certainly one of the stranger things we've seen in an airport. But hey, it can also clean watches and jewelry, too!
32. In Case You Lose Your Luggage
This has got to be the most "Karen" thing we've ever seen. And yes, we're willing to bet her name is Karen. We understand that finding your luggage among a sea of black suitcases is difficult, but she took it to the next level. It seems to us like she was sick of digging to find her luggage, so decided to have her face blown up on one. Okay, boomer.
33. Hair as an Eye Mask
Jet-lag is real, and we honestly can't blame this lady for being innovative! She likely forgot to bring an eye mask so that she could zonk out, and decided to use her hair, instead. We're not sure how comfy this was or if she had to keep on adjusting, but hey, it's the thought that counts! 10/10 for creativity.
34. Flexible Dude
Upon first glance, you're probably thinking "ouch." But when you really look at it, how in the world is it even possible? We're so confused how he's doing this. If you look at his knees, they're facing forward, yet his toes are facing outward. We're not entirely sure how he's managing to do this, but he must have some flexible legs.
35. Getting a Stretch In Before a Long Flight
We get it, if you're about to hop on a super long flight, you're going to be sitting down for quite some time, meaning your legs, back and pretty much everything else will become tight and sore. This guy was preparing for the worst as he got in a super good stretch before his flight. Definitely an odd place to do it, but to each their own.
36. Lady Clipping Fingernails
Ugh, this is just straight up disgusting. Not only is it gross, but it's unsanitary and rude, too! You can see the absolute horror on the woman's face who caught the culprit on film, and she's just as grossed out as we are. The lady clipping her fingernails didn't have a care in the world or a bag to dispose of her nasty nails.
37. Christmas Tree on a Plane
Don't you just love the holidays? While we're big fans of Christmas, we don't think we'd go so far as to bringing an actual decorated tree with us on an airplane. It looks like it has its own seat, so we're left wondering if its owner actually bought a seat for it? If so, wow, they must have some deep pockets, but also, it's pretty weird.
38. Couple's Yoga
We've seen people stretching, doing yoga and more in airports, but this is a first. It looks like a couple is doing some sort of partner yoga or stretch, which is, in our opinion, not appropriate for an airport. The guy's feet are holding the woman up by her butt, and she's getting a stretch in her back. We're sure it felt good, but know your audience!
39. Dog With a Pedicure
We're all for bringing your dog to the airport, especially when they're as cute as this little guy (girl?). But come on, painting your pup's toenails are seriously not cool! We can only hope that the nail polish was non-toxic and safe for the dog. One thing we do like though, is the color, pink is always a win in our book.
40. Unicorn Gal
People wear all sorts of things to the airport. Some come dressed to impress, a lot are in comfy clothing like leggings and hoodies, and then there are the few who stand out from the rest. Take this person who's rocking a unicorn onesie. Maybe it was the only clean item in their closet, or they truly didn't care about all the stares.
41. Stairway to Nowhere
There are a lot of people piled onto this set of passenger stairs at the airport—especially considering that the plane is nowhere to be found! This doesn't look all that safe, but these folks are desperate to board their plane. With the travel restrictions going on right now, we don't blame them!
42. Salad Lover
We've seen some unusual carry-ons in our time, but this guy's travel accessories might take the cake. Clearly, he doesn't want to get his two giant bags of lettuce crushed in his backpack, because he's carrying them under his arm like precious cargo. We'd say he's planning on mixing a healthy salad once he's airborne, but we doubt he'll get it to taste any good with only a travel-sized bottle of dressing.
43. Unusual Order
We know that airport food has a tendency to be extremely pricey without being very good, but snacking on the rug doesn't seem like a very good alternative. This sign in India is pretty hilarious, but it appears to be the result of a translation error. In actuality, the text is telling travelers to avoid sitting and eating directly on the airport carpet.
44. Overzealous Traveler
We're as guilty of overpacking as anyone—after all, you never know what's going to happen when you're traveling and so far away from all of your precious belongings. Even so, we think the bags this traveler is planning to check in are a little bit excessive. And even if you do need all those clothes, maybe you can leave the giant stuffed alligator at home?
45. Spooky Airport Worker
The airports have definitely been a little dead lately—every pun intended. With things quiet behind the desks, the employees have followed suit (or at least that's what it seems like from this image). While we're pretty sure this was put up as a spooky holiday decoration to celebrate Halloween, you can never really know, can you?
46. Cat Nap
We get it—airport travel is exhausting. Sometimes, you just have to sneak in some rest anywhere (and any time) that you can, but when you're on the move, that's not always easy. This little girl doesn't seem to mind that her sleeping place isn't all that comfortable. At least she's not getting left behind!
47. Duct Tape Fix
We're not sure if this one is funny or absolutely terrifying. While you definitely don't want your plane to take off without being secured down, we're not sure that a quick fix with a roll of duct tape is going to do much when you're traveling at upwards of 500 miles per hour and more than 30,000 feet in the air. We'd probably, no, definitely ask for a refund.
48. Kitty Reclaim
We can't say we understand precisely what's going on here, but we're big fans, regardless. The baggage reclaim area at this airport is empty of all luggage, and is instead occupied by three very sweet grey cats, who seem to be calmly enjoying the ride. The sign says that sitting on the conveyor is strictly forbidden, but we'll make an exception for these cuties.
49. Safety First
We understand that people definitely don't want to get sick right now—especially when they're traveling—but we're not sure that this giant plastic bag is the way to keep out germs and viruses. Can he even breathe under there? There's definitely a safety warning on that bag—but at least he's getting people on their planes.
50. Cheating the System
Now this is one big brain move. One of the most annoying things about travel is checked bag limits, whether that means you'll be paying more to travel with it, or that it's so big you can't bring it on the plane at all! We're impressed by this traveler's innovative (if someone shady) way to cheat the system. By ever so slightly lifting his luggage on one side with his foot, he's making his bag appear to weigh less, so it's just the right weight for air travel.
