5 Zodiac Signs That Tend to Hide Their True Feelings

If you follow astrology, chances are that there are certain signs you already associate with secrecy and emotional distance. We're right there with you, and below, we've shared the five signs of the zodiac that are most likely to hide their true feelings.

Cancer (June 21 – July 22)

Cancer's zodiac symbol, the crab, couldn't be more appropriate to describe the way they treat their feelings. They're actually deeply sensitive and soft, but they keep parts of themselves tucked away beneath their hard shells—and they'll snap at you with their claws if you try to get too close. They're deeply protective of their feelings, often because they've been hurt in the past and want to avoid future pain. Unless you're very close to them, you might struggle to know what they're thinking—although, they're moody enough that you'll often get a sense that something is wrong.

Virgo (Aug. 23 – Sep. 22)

Virgo is one the the reliable and steady earth signs, and they tend to keep their emotions at a distance in general. They prioritize facts and data over feelings, and even when they're upset, they'll try to bury them deep down and instead focus on being logical. Of course, this doesn't always work. They can have strong feelings about things, especially when it comes to roadblocks to their success or feelings of inadequacy. They're only human, after all, and trying to be objective isn't always going to work for them.

 

Scorpio (Oct. 23 – Nov. 21)

Like Cancer, Scorpio is an emotional water sign, and the two share quite a lot in common. This time, however, Scorpio is symbolized by a scorpion, again suggesting soft innards protected by a hard exoskeleton, and this time, with a stinging, venomous tail to boot. They're intense and passionate, but their feelings aren't for just anyone. Most of the time, Scorpios only entrust their true thoughts to a trusted few. However, these bottled up feelings can sometimes escape, often with explosive results, which might be why the sign is known for being vengeful and even deadly.

Capricorn (Dec. 22 – Jan. 19)

Capricorn is another of the earth signs, like Virgo, that often shoves emotions aside because they feel like they get in the way. Caps are known for being all work and no play, prioritizing progress and success over things like fun, relaxation and even relationships. They don't consider emotions to be productive, so they don't give them very much weight, even when they're important. Even so, they do often experience complex emotions, doing what they can to handle them in a mature manner.

 

Aquarius (Jan. 20 – Feb. 18)

Aquarius, the only air sign on this list, compartmentalizes their emotions in a different way. They often intellectualize their emotions, analyzing them from a distance in a way that makes it hard for them to actually process and feel them. They're known for being aloof, but they can be a little cold and separated even from their own moods and experiences. They'll always think about these feelings before expressing them, but by the time they've done this, it's unlikely that you'll get the full picture.
